Australian Gold
Whenever a Gold Rush happened in the past, the result was a huge labor migration to the areas where gold was found and quite a few people became rich as a result. Some of the gold rushes which happened in our history were the ones from Australia, Canada, United States, Brazil and South Africa.
The gold rush attracts a lot of entrepreneurs and people that are trying to become rich overnight. A lot of them had the wrong idea about the chances of getting rich or the amount of work that was necessary in order to have a chance. Most people know about the gold rush of California as being the biggest, but the truth is that the gold rush from Australia was the one that was the richest so far.
The beginning of the gold rush of Australia was in 1851 and Edward Hargraves was the one responsible. When he went to the Lewis Pond Creek with a guide he managed to find gold with the help of panning. It became well known quickly that there was gold in the area and in just a couple of days people started to dig in the area and to extract gold.
The initial find of gold was for the New South Wales region, but other areas followed soon, including Clunes, Buninyong, Bendigo Creek and Ballarat. Pretty much every Australian state had some gold found and licenses to mine gold were issued everywhere.
The biggest gold rush was the one from Victoria and it helped stimulate the economy of the area and the political stage as well. During that first year of the gold rush, approximately 250,000 gold ounces were extracted.
Thanks to the gold rush, the cities in the area developed nicely, with phone lines and railways being built and many more people moving into the area.
